About the Project

Bea and Jess are two service designers studying at the Royal College of Art. For our final MA project, we collaborated with IKEA’s innovation team exploring future sleep offerings. Our work focused on the journeys to sleep, and together we have looked to where language, and a richer vocabulary around our sleep journeys, could enable “beyond the bedroom” design.

Rey was our initial speculation about world centred on before sleep. After giving form to our questions and learnings, we have developed and shared our methods and tools to encourage other designers to go beyond traditional bedroom design parameters and explore ‘journeys' to bed’.
